Tai Chi/Qi Gong

When we maintain that balance, we feel well, we sleep well and we say we have energy. When that balance is off, we begin to manifest illness, disease and at times chronic conditions. The Chinese believe that we are filled with energy, which they refer to as Qi (chee). For centuries they have practiced exercises which help to maintain that energy balance. Qi (chee) means energy or breath and our breath is considered our life force since life begins with breath at birth. These exercises are designed to affect a person on every level. It physically strengthens the body and promotes flexibility. It also stimulates energy flow throughout the body thereby increasing vitality. Tai Chi and Qi Gong is safe and effective for health maintenance and enhancement. The exercises are not too strenuous and can be done by people whose health is compromised by illness. The dance like movements use every part of the body and have been shown to improve balance, coordination and endurance. Although they are not strenuous, they are aerobic, thereby improving cardiopulmonary output. Tai Chi and Qi Gong help people relax as well as invigorate them.
